About Anju Peter
Anju is a passionate Mohiniyattam artiste as well as an academic in dance. She was initiated into Mohiniyattam by Guru Dr.Kalamandalam Radhika, a recipient of the Kerala Sangeetha NatakaAkademi award for Mohiniyattam. Then she continued her training with Guru KalaimamaniGopika Varma. Later, Anju found her calling for a serious, structured, and disciplined practice in Mohiniyattam, the moment she came across Guru Nirmala Panikar- an authority in Mohiniyattam! She has been continuing her practice under the tutelage of Smt. Nirmala Panikar since then.
Anju joined the Master of Performing Arts (MPA) program specializing in Mohiniyattam at Reva University, Bangalore. She completed the MPA with First rank and Gold medal. She qualified for the UGC-NET examination in performing arts (dance). She is a Graded Doordarshan artiste and has performed on prestigious stages across the country. She is an empaneled artiste at SPICMACAY and has conducted many workshops and demonstrations for the same. She is currently working as Assistant Professor at School of Performing Arts, REVA University. She is also pursuing her PhD in dance at the University of Mysore. Anju is also a Carnatic music vocalist who has won several accolades for her renditions.
Anju's experiences as a student, performer, and teacher inspired her to establish Nrityankanam, a dance school committed to nurturing Mohiniyattam.
Being a B.Tech graduate from Madras University, she worked as a software engineer for several years before she decided to dedicate herself to the art of Mohiniyattam.
